first day of school

kennedy & ellison started school at Good Shepherd Day School yesterday! they are going 3 mornings a week, from 9am-12pm. kennedy was SO excited to go to school, that she had trouble falling asleep the night before! she kept asking questions about school & wanted to make sure everything was ready. so wed morning she was a little tired when i woke her up, but it only took about 30 seconds before she remembered what day it was & she was excitedly getting ready. ellison on the other hand, who is definitely just like me in the mornings, was NOT happy to be woken up, changed, and dressed. that pretty much ruined her day & she just laid on the floor & cried while i got everything together to leave - i also waited until about 10 minutes before we left to wake her up...thinking that the longer i let her sleep, the better off she'd be - big mistake!

kennedy ready to go, ellison still crying

kennedy grabbing her homework...all the kids in her class made pendants to hang in the classroom of all their favorite things

ellison's homework was to decorate a fish with her family & favorite things...this will be laminated & used as her placemat at school

kennedy SO excited driving to school

ellison starts crying again because i took this picture

so we get to school and walk in ellison's classroom, where one little girl is just screaming & having a total meltdown - the type where tears, snot & drool are all over her face, chin & dress. so right away, ellison is like, "what is going on in here?!" ellison was fine going in her classroom and just watched the little girl carry on, but as soon as kennedy & i said by & started to leave, she too burst into tears! the teacher told us at the end of the day she was fine, she just didn't like it if either teacher left the room.

here is kennedy walking to her classroom. love her cute backpack.

as were about to open the door to her classroom, we look in the window & some of the kids were playing with playdough. kennedy exclaims, "they have playdough?! YES!"

so she's so busy playing, this is the best picture i have. i said "bye, kennedy, i love you!" and she replies, without even looking up, "bye mom, love you too!" so cute!

then when clint picked them up, he said that kennedy said school was "great!" which is a big deal for kennedy, because everything is usually just okay or fine if you ask her. her favorite thing she did was play the horsey game (we think they galloped around the room acting like horses & sang a song?). when clint asked her if she made any friends, she said, "yes, the brown boy is my friend!" ellison (as i noted earlier) had a rough day. but clint said she is already ms. mary's favorite & she calls her "cutie bootie."

I noticed Kennedy is really fond of cows :)
So, how was it with a "free" morning? Are you working with the firm still? The girls look cute on their first day. I really like Kennedy's backpack. Congrats on the potty training-lots of big milestones in a little amount of time!
